Let's end 2016 on a positive note. What awesome/cool/interesting things
did you do and/or happened to you? List 'em!

Me:

1. Read more books than I have ever read in one year.
2. Had a real job!
3. Decided to go back to school.
4. Was able to rebuild a couple old friendships!

1. Got back into writing.
2. Completed another audio theatre production.
3. Got a whole ton of professional virtual instruments for around $80; a HUGE steal let me tell you.
4. Watched my little girl gradually gain a greater vocabulary and perception of the world around her.
5. Continued to do well at a fantastic company for which I work.
6. Still married; going on 8 years. No reason I wouldn't be, but it's still a victory. She's much more than I feel I deserve.
7. Moved to a bigger, better, and sadly more expensive home in a far better location. I can even walk to work!
8. Discovered the amazement that is Apple Music.

Yeah, all in all a pretty decent year now that I think about it.

this is a great topic. on the news this morning I heard that something like 67 percent of people in the u.s. thought that this year sucked. too bad for them. happiness comes from within us. so, I think that our life is a gift so we should enjoy our present.

now, all that maudlin sstuff aside... here's the good parts of my year.

1. cruised wiwth my husband and guide dog to Alaska for 4th time.

2. worked on planning a convention.

3. found I love writing.

4. trained for and received a wonderful new guide dog from gdb in san Rafael.

5.made new friends and kept old ones.

6. enjoyed hearing the exploits of our three grand kids.

there is other stuff but that's the main items.

2016 was a hard year for my family. We had several serious illnesses. I came very close to, like within 6 hours of, losing my mom. She had to have emergency surgery to repair a ruptured ulcer. My 93-year-old Grandfather just got out of the hospital after a month long bout with pneumonia and a collapsed lung. So, yeah, 2016 was pretty tough for us.

As for the good things that have happened, I was able to sell the house that my X-husband and I owned in the middle of mobility hell. I moved to an area where I can walk more places. The new house is much smaller which has taken some getting used to but ultimately, I love it. I didn't make as much as I had hoped from the sale of the other house because of foreclosures in the old neighborhood but I have a little nest egg now for my son as he gets older. That is a huge plus. The new neighborhood is much more quiet and has virtually no crime. Yay!

I'll be training with a new guide dog next year so that is something to look forward to.

I can't say I'll be sorry to see 2016 go. Onward and upward to a better 2017.

Post 16 by lalady (This site is so "educational") on Monday, 09-Jan-2017 17:24:00

To that last poster, I would say you did a lot and should feel very good about yourself. As far as myself, I'm the one who really didn't achieve much. I'm thinking really hard and am having trouble coming up with just one thing. But it's worth mentioning and so I will. I made an awesome new friend. This kind of friend is hard to come by and so I'd say I am very fortunate.

Post 17 by Remy (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 09-Jan-2017 19:09:25

Don't underestimate the worthiness of a new love or new friend. Those can both be life changing.

Post 18 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Friday, 13-Jan-2017 19:20:33

The best thing about 2016 for me was the New Year's Eve party I went to, where I then became grateful that 2016 was gone and over with. These last few years have been pretty rough for me health-wise.

Post 19 by Remy (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 16-Jan-2017 13:27:12

Seems like it's been a pretty terrible year for many people. Myself included, though as stated above, a lot of good things too. Sorry to hear your personal health has been problematic. That makes for very difficult times.

Post 20 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Wednesday, 18-Jan-2017 17:30:43

Got back into playing bass guitar after a couple decades and more of being out.
